TERMITE INSPECTIONS

A thorough visual termite inspection is conducted on our initial visit. We assess your unique situation and individual needs, identifying any risks and getting to the root of any problems you may be faced with, with minimum inconvenience caused to you. We will then prescribe the best termite treatment. Brisbane homeowners will be provided with the maximum protection for your family and home.

We also promise you, your family, your plants and all the little native guys living in your garden, the most environmentally safe option available on the market when it comes to your termite control. Unfortunately, however, sometimes those pesky termites just don’t give us any other option.

PRE-PURCHASE INSPECTIONS

The Purpose of this inspection is to give potential new home owners advice about the condition of the property they are wishing to buy. This inspection is usually carried out before you exchange sale contracts so you can identify any problems with the property which, if left unchecked, could prove costly to repair.

Pest Control Australia carries out all Pre-Purchase Timber Pest Inspections to Australian Standards 4349.3, which looks at Termites, Timber Decay and Borers of Seasoned Timbers. The Inspection and resulting Report will be confined to reporting on the discovery, or non-discovery, of infestation and/or damage caused by subterranean and dampwood termites (white ants), borers of seasoned timber and wood decay fungi (rot), present on the date and time of the Inspection.

We have teamed up with some local Building Inspectors – that’s right, when you book a Building and Pest inspection with us, you get two independent reports from two different technicians who specialise in their own field. One being building and one being timber pests.

RETICULATION SYSTEM

One of the best long-term solutions to termite prevention in Brisbane is to have a termite reticulation system installed, which is primarily installed in the pre-construction phases under and around concrete bases in commercial or residential properties. However, the TermX Replenishment System provides an excellent protective barrier for existing structures and dwellings as well. A reticulation system is a series of slender pipes which are then filled with termiticides which slowly disperse into the soil, saturating the surrounding area, deterring any termites who dare to approach the structure.
The pipes are installed around the perimeter of the dwelling under concrete paving and garden beds. The chemical used in a reticulation system can be refilled time and time again, protecting your new home or investment for the life of the dwelling. The chemicals we use can last up to 5-7 years. They fully apply to Australian Standards and are the best available on the market when you want the most sensible type of termite treatment Brisbane wide.

CHEMICAL BARRIER TREATMENTS

Pest Control Australia uses 3 types of chemicals to kill and eradicate termites: Altriset, Termidor and BiFlex. Chemicals that are used to kill termites are called termiticides. When talking about termiticides, there are currently two major groups of termiticides on the market, Repellent and Non-Repellent Termiticides.

REPELLENT TERMITICIDES

Repellent termiticides have been around a little longer than the newer non-repellent technology and are very cost effective. The active ingredient used in most of these products is Bifenthrin. Unlike non-repellent termiticides, they do not have a flow on effect that will affect the rest of the colony. The termites will simply tunnel into the termiticide while foraging, encounter the chemical and then they will either be repelled from the treated area or die.

NON-REPELLENT TERMITICIDES

The newest innovation in termite treatments on the market are non-repellent termiticides. The chemicals used are non-repellent to the termites, which means the termites cannot detect the chemical in the ground and are slow acting. Therefore, unbeknown to them, while foraging through the soil they will encounter the chemical. The active ingredient will then be taken back to the nest, infect the colony and cause a colony elimination. The active ingredient used in most of these products is Fipronil and Imidacloprid.

MONITORING AND BAITING SYSTEMS

The Termite Monitoring System is a Monitoring and Baiting System, designed to attract any termites which are foraging in the area and eliminates the termite colony in a safe non-invasive way. Termite Monitoring Stations are placed in the ground around the home, generally under the drip line of the gutter. The Termite Monitor Station contains compact cellulose blocks, timber and cardboard. When active termites are found in a monitoring station, we then add a bait containing 1g/kg of Chlorfluazuron as the active constituent, which is about as toxic as table salt!
As termites feed and then travel back to the colony, they share termite bait with other nest mates (trophallaxis) and send other termites back to feed on the bait. As feeding on the bait continues and more and more termites are affected, the termite colony starts to die and is eliminated.

For termite control Brisbane wide, Pest Control Australia uses a termite Bait that is a registered product under the requirements of legislation administered by the Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority. With a Monitoring and Baiting system, you have the option to either monitor the system yourself or have Pest Control Australia monitor it for you. Talk to us today about the right termite control.
